RICHARD HARRIS
Shown as King Arthur in Camelot
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/Pierre/Richard/Harris". B/w, 8x10. Shown as King Arthur in a movie still from Camelot (1967). Actor Richard Harris (1932-2002), a native of Limerick, Ireland, found success on the stage and screen and had a hit record with Jimmy Webb's "MacArthur Park". In 1983, he starred in Triumphs of a Man Called Horse. Nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award in 1963 (The Sporting Life) and 1990 (The Field), Harris' other films include The Guns of Navarone (1961), Mutiny on the Bounty (1962), Major Dundee (1965), A Man Called Horse (1970), Cromwell (1970), Robin and Marian (1976), Patriot Games and Unforgiven (1992), Gladiator (2000) and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). He is perhaps best known for his role as King Arthur in Camelot. Harris replaced Richard Burton in a theatrical revival of Lerner and Lowe's musical and reprised his role on film in 1967. Harris died on October 25, 2002, the month before he would be seen again as Professor Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Corners lightly creased. Signature lightly beaded but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
