Contract signed: "Pat Rooney" as Producer and "Richard Hatch" as Player, 1p, 8½x13½. No place, 1977 October 3. Headed: "Actor's Television Motion Picture Minimum Free-Lance Weekly Contract". Hatch contracts with E.M.I. Television Programs, Inc. to star as "Jan Berry" in the 1978 made-for-TV movie, Deadman's Curve, a biopic about the rock 'n' roll singing duo, Jan and Dean (the real Jan Berry would appear in the film in an uncredited cameo role). He is to be paid $3,977.34 weekly, for a total compensation of $17,500 for 22 days. Lightly creased with folds, lower horizontal fold at mid-portion of Rooney's signature. Staple holes at upper left corner, two file holes at upper margin. Fine condition. Accompanied by Typed DS: "Pat Rooney" as Producer and "Richard Hatch" as Player, 1p, 8½x14. No place, 1977 October 3. Headed: "Rider Attached to and Hereby Made/A Part of the Agreement Between/E.M.I. Television Programs, Inc./And: Half Moon Productions, Inc./f-s-o Richard Hatch/Dated: October 3, 1977". Refers to provisions if the film for which Hatch has signed is released theatrically. Hatch is to be paid $8,750 if the film is released in the U.S. or Canada and the same amount if the film is released outside of the U.S. and Canada. Payment is to be made within 120 days of the initial showing. Lightly creased with folds, lower horizontal fold nicks Hatch's signature. Staple holes at upper left corner, two file holes at upper blank margin. Overall, fine condition. Accompanied by Carbon Typed DS: "Pat Rooney" in ink and "Richard Hatch" in ink as Player, 1p, 8½x14. No place, no date. Headed: "Credit Rider". Rider to the above agreement, stating that Hatch is to "receive first star billing, separate card, main titles." Lightly creased with folds, not at signatures. Staple holes at upper left corner, two file holes at upper blank margin. Light black marks at upper left edge, usual black marks from photocopying. Fine condition. Accompanied by photocopied Typed DS: "Pat Rooney" for E.M.I. Television Programs, Inc. under "Accepted and Agreed", 2p, 8½x11, separate sheets. Studio City, California, 1977 October 3. In letter form to E.M.I. Television Programs, Inc. from Half Moon Productions, Inc. Refers to the loan of Hatch to E.M.I. for the film. In part: "You have requested us to loan to you and furnish to you the services of RICHARD HATCH...to render services as provided in the Agreement attached hereto...It is understood and agreed that we are supplying Performer's services to you in accordance with the terms and provisions of said Agreement...We represent and warrant that we have the right to enter into this agreement...All compensation payable to Performer under the attached Agreement shall be paid to us without any deduction whatsoever...We are and will be the Employer of Performer with respect to the services rendered hereunder...." Also signed by a representative of Half Moon Productions, Inc. Lightly creased with folds, lower horizontal fold at the upper loops of the "P" and "R" in Rooney's signature. Staple holes at upper left corners, two file holes at upper blank margins, light paper clip impression at lower right margin of signature page. Overall, fine condition. Accompanied by photocopied Typed Document signed by a representative of Half Moon Productions, Inc. No place, no date. Headed: "Acknowledgment". Inducement for E.M.I. Television Programs, Inc. to enter into an agreement with Half Moon Productions, Inc. regarding the loan of Hatch's services. Begins: "In order to induce E.M.I. Television Programs, Inc....to enter into the agreement dated October 3, 1977...and in consideration of Borrower's execution and delivery thereof, the undersigned hereby represents and warrants that the undersigned is familiar with each term and condition of the Agreement, and the undersigned hereby consents and agrees to the execution and delivery of said Agreement by Lender...." The document ends with Half Moon Productions, Inc. waiving any claim against the Borrower for wages, salary or other compensation of any kind. In the space marked "Dated", Rooney has written a "P". Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. Staple holes at upper left corner, two file holes at upper blank margin, light paper clip impression at lower right blank margin. Overall, fine condition. With Typed Document, unsigned, 1p, 8½x11. No place, 1977 October 3. Headed: "Deal Memo". A summary of Hatch's agreement for the film from Ramsay King to a number of other parties, including Rooney and E.M.I.'s auditor. "First star" is circled in pencil. Slightly creased. Three file holes at blank left margin, two file holes at upper blank margin, staple holes at upper left corner. The made-for-TV movie, Deadman's Curve, was first aired on February 3, 1978. Bruce Davison co-starred as Dean Torrence and Wolfman Jack was The Jackal in the film, which was directed by Richard Compton. PAT ROONEY was the producer. Rooney was the executive producer of Fools (1970). In 1978, Hatch introduced his role of Captain Apollo in the made-for-TV movie, Battlestar Galactica. He would go on to play the character on the television series of the same name from 1978-1979, being nominated for a Golden Globe for Best TV Actor - Drama in 1979. In 1978, Hatch was also seen on the small screen as Harmon Farinella (1977-1978) on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Actor RICHARD HATCH (1945-2017) is also known to television audiences at the original Philip Brent on the daytime soap All My Childrenand as Inspector Dan Robbins on The Streets of San Francisco. His big screen credits include Living Legend: The King of Rock and Roll (1980), Prisoners of the Lost Universe (1983), Party Line (1988), Iron Thunder (1998), Big Shots (2001) and The Rain Makers (2005).
