RICHARD HINDS
$67.64 check from Formosa Productions, signed early in his career in film production
Check Endorsed: "Richard Hinds", 8½x3½. New York, N.Y., 1972 February 25. Check #1724, drawn on the payroll account of Formosa Productions at Franklin National Bank, payable to Richard Hinds for $67.64. Richard Hinds worked his way up in the film production business, receiving his first credit as a production aide on The Taking of Pelham One Two Three in 1974. By the 1980s, he was assistant director or second unit director on several productions, mostly TV offerings such as Sister, Sister (1982), Blue Thunder (1984) and two Perry Mason Mysteries (1994-1995). He was assistant director on the That's Dancing, the critically acclaimed documentary on American dance. In 1972 Formosa Productions created Come Back Charleston Blue (originally titled The Heat is On), a sequel to the popular Cotton Goes to Harlem. Although Hinds does not receive billing on that film, this check attests that he had already found his calling. Fine condition. A portion of the screen image has been obscured to protect sensitive information. The original check does not contain these concealing marks.
