Boswell Court/Lincoln Ave/London". Richard Lalor Sheil (1791-1851)
was an Irish playwright, politician and orator. His first play,
Adelaide, or The Emigrants debuted in Dublin in 1814 and in Covent
Garden, London two years later. His second play, The Apostate (1817),
fully established his reputation. Sheil campaigned for Catholic
emancipation, a goal achieved in 1829. He entered Parliament in 1830,
and was named Master of the Mint in 1846. He died in Florence, having
been appointed minister to the Tuscan court. Lightly toned and creased Corners
lightly creased. Stamp lightly effecting ink. Otherwise, fine
condition.
