RICHARD MARR
The actor sends a requested photograph to John Willis, Editor of Theatre World
Typed note signed: "Richard Marr", in blue ink, 6x4. In full: "Dear Mr. Willis: - Enclosed is my photograph, which you requested [items not included]. Thank you for your interest. Sincerely". Richard Marr (1928-1984) appeared in 8 Broadway plays between 1954 and 1976, mostly comedies and musicals. These included the hit productions Baker Street and Coco, and a revival of On the Town. He was seen occasionally in character roles on TV, seemingly favoring supernatural offerings like Dark Shadows (1966) and Tales of the Unexpected (1984). John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Paper clip crease on top margin. Corners slightly worn and creased. Fine condition.
