RICHARD "NIGHT TRAIN" LANE
The NFL defensive back who got his nickname for his use of trains due to his fear of
flying signed this card in blue ink
Signature: "Dick Night Train Lane", 5x3 unlined index card. "Night Train" Lane
(1927-2002) was a defensive back in the NFL from 1952-1965. In his rookie season, Lane
set the record for most interceptions in a season (14) that still stands today. Lane also
ranks 3rd all-time for career interceptions with 68. In 1969, just 4 years after his
retirement, Lane was voted the best cornerback in the first 50 years of the NFL. Five years
later he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, forever remembered as one of the hardest
hitters in NFL history. Despite his individual successes, he never won a Super Bowl. Light
pencil markings in top right corner. Top right corner creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
