Autograph Letter signed: “R. Scruton/ Lord Mayor of York 1971” in blue ink, 1p, 6½x9 at widest points adhered to 14x9½ piece of paper. October 19, 1971. Written on Mansion House, York letterhead. Richard Scruton served as Lord Mayor of York in 1971. To “Dear Mr. Croxford”. In full: 'Dear Mr. Croxford,/ I am so sorry about the long delay in reply to your letter. The fact is it came at a very busy time and was put on one side./ My own signature foots this letter and if you do decide to produce an article about York which calls for a number in addition then I suggest you write giving particular to the Town Clerk - Guildhall - York./ With good wishes for your work./ Yours sincerely”. Letter irregularly clipped. Typed captions and images pertaining to the city of York affixed above and to the left of the letter. Letter: folded in half vertically and horizontally.
