[WINSTON CHURCHILL]: RICK PARKS
Original oil portrait of Churchill, signed by the painter Parks, framed in the Gallery of History style to 42½x46½
Original Art signed: "Rick Parks". Color, 35½x40½. Original oil portrait of Sir Winston Churchill by Nevada artist Rick Parks. Smaller image, brown, 4x6, of Churchill smoking a cigar at lower right.British politician and author Winston Churchill (1874-1965) became a Member of Parliament in 1901. He later served as Undersecretary for Colonies (1905-1908), President of the Board of Trade (1908-1910), Home Secretary (1910-1911) and First Lord of Admiralty (1911-1915). Churchill, a Colonel in France during WWI (1916), was also Minister of Munitions (1917), Secretary for War and Air (1919-1921), Secretary for Colonies and Air (1921), Secretary for Colonies (1921-1922) and Chancellor of the Exchequer (1924-1929). His inspiring leadership during WWII, especially as Prime Minister (1940-1945, 1951-1955), sustained morale in Britain and helped stimulate resistance in Western Europe. Churchill was knighted in 1953, the year he published his six-volume The Second World War and won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Fine and impressive. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 42½x46½.
