RITA COOLIDGE. Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Jim/Rita Coolidge". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 6x8¾ (one surface). Singer and actress Rita Coolidge (born in 1944) is equally adept at rock, pop, R&B, country and folk, and she was a successful session vocalist (backing such performers as Eric Clapton, Stephen Stills, Leon Russell and Joe Cocker) in addition to having a solo career. Coolidge, who was married to Kris Kristofferson from1973-1980, won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Vocal by a Duo or Group for "From the Bottle to the Bottom" and "Lover Please". Her solo hits include "(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher", "The Way You Do the Things You Do", "You", "Id Rather Leave While I'm in Love" and "All Time High". Since releasing her self-titled debut album in 1971, Coolidge has released a number of recordings, including Anytime, Anywhere (1977), Inside the Fire (1984), Love Sessions (1992), Cherokee (1995) and And So Is Love (2005). She has also appeared in feature films and made-for-TV movies and is an occasional guest star on TV shows. Three songs, "Cherokee", "The Raven" and "Sugar Babe", were written about her by Stephen Sills, whom Coolidge once dated. Writing in dark area but legible. Lightly creased at blank margins and corners, ¼-inch tear at lower right edge, light black mark at lower right corner. Minor surface creases (most not evident head on), two at hair. Remnants of a label on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition.
