RITA TUSHINGHAM
Small b/w headshot of a young Tushingham in a dark sweater, signed in blue ink
Photograph signed "Rita Tushingham". With pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. B/w, 3¼x5¼ cardstock. Tushingham, born in Garston, Liverpool, England in 1940, is an English actress with over 60 movies and TV shows to her credit as of this biography. Tushingham's acting debut was at 16 as Rabbit and "Back Legs of Horse" in Toad of Toad Hall, but her movie debut was more mature fare, as Jo in the film adaptation of A Taste of Honey (1961). This won her a Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival, and she turned in more critic-pleasing performances in The Leather Boys and The Girl with Green Eyes (1963). Her career slowed after 1970 and, after a turn on the TV series No Strings (1974), she only had sporadic appearances. Her career was jumpstarted with A Judgment in Stone (1986), and her appearances on TV and in movies became more frequent, especially after 2000. Among her memorable roles were Aunt Lily in An Awfully Big Adventure. Lightly bowed. Pinhead-sized stain near top edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
