Hoffmann shared the 1981 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Kenichi Fukui "for their theories, developed independently, concerning the course of chemical reactions". While still engaged in teaching and researching chemistry at Cornell University, Hoffmann launched a second career as a poet, with several collections published since 1984. Hoffmann has also co-authored books on chemistry's connections to other sources of human wisdom. Chemistry Imagined (1993) looks at chemistry from the viewpoints of science, art and literature. Old Wine, New Flasks: Reflections on Science and Jewish Tradition appeared in 1997. Fine condition.
