ROBBIE FTOREK - NEWSPAPER PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED - HFSID 304027
Price: $90.00
ROBBIE FTOREK
Shown on the ice, signed with his uniform number in this 3x4
newspaper photograph.
Newspaper Photograph signed: "Robbie Ftorek/#7". Sepia, 3x4,
affixed to a 3½x4¼ card (2 surfaces). Robbie Ftorek (b. 1952) was
initially deemed too small to play in the NHL. This faulty judgment proved the
World Hockey League's good fortune; as a member of the Phoenix Roadrunners,
Ftorek became in 1977 the first US-born player to win the WHA's Gordie Howe
Award as player of the year. He was also MVP of Team USA during the Canada Cup
competition of 1976. After the WHA folded in 1984, Ftorek played
successfully in the NHL with the Quebec Nordiques and New York Rangers through
1985. He has since served as head coach of several teams, most recently the Erie
Otters (2007-2012). Irregularly cut at edges. Otherwise, fine
condition.
