ROBERT ALBERT BLOCH
Six paragraphs from the 1959 book Psycho, the basis for the
classic Alfred Hitchcock film. Signed by author Robert Bloch in blue
ink.
Typescript signed "Robert Bloch". 1 page, 8½x11. Titled:
"An excerpt from/PSYCHO/by/ROBERT BLOCH". Includes six paragraphs from
Bloch's 1959 novel. Prolific American author Bloch (1917-1994)
corresponded with horror pioneer H. P. Lovecraft in his teens, and his early
stories were inspired by, and often extensions of, Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos.
He's probably best known as the author of the Edgar Award-winning 1959
psychological horror novel Psycho, which was adapted by Alfred Hitchcock
into his classic 1960 movie of the same name. But his writing career
stretches back to 1934, when he sold his first story Lilies to Marvel
Tales in 1934, and his works continue to be published today. Bloch won the
Hugo Award for his 1958 story That Hell-Bound Train as well as the
Bram Stoker Award and the World Fantasy Award. He also has original material or
writing credits for over 40 movies and TV shows between 1960 and 1998, including
Thriller (1960-1962), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1960-1962 and
1986), The Alfred Hitchcock Hour (1962-1965), Star Trek
(1966-1967), Journey into the Unknown (1968-1969), Tales from the
Darkside (1984-1987) and Monsters (1988-1989). Lightly creased,
otherwise in fine condition.
