Engraving signed: "Robert B. Anderson". B/w, 8x6 overall, 4x2 oval image (one surface). Engraving of the Treasury Department building. Anderson (1910-1989) was active in Texas state government in the 1930s, then focused on private business interests (ranching and oil) in the 1940s. Brought to Washington by President Eisenhower, he served as Secretary of the Navy (1953-1954), Deputy Secretary of Defense (1954-1955) and Secretary of the Treasury (1957-1961). Very influential in the latter post, he is given much credit for the fiscal conservatism of Ike's second term. President Johnson entrusted Anderson with diplomatic missions in the 1960s. Fine condition.
