Document signed "Robert B. Sinclair". Red and blue ink and lead pencil notations in unknown hand. And black ink date stamp. 1 page, 8½x11. Oct. 19, 1962. Sinclair signed this document in 1962 to calculate his dues to the Directors Guild of America, which were based on his earnings as a director or producer. He claims to have earned $14,450 in 1961 and estimated that he would earn $10,000 in 1962. Sinclair directed several episodes of TV's The Lawman, his final credits as a director, in 1962. American director Sinclair (1905-1970) directed the original Broadway productions of Dodsworth(1934), Pride and Prejducice(1935-1936), The Women(1938-1936), Babes in Arms (1937) and The Philadelphia Story(1939-1940) before coming to Hollywood. He directed 10 or so movies between 1938 and 1948 and numerous TV series in the late 1950s and 1960s, including episodes of Telephone Time (1957-1958), Shirley Temple's Storybook (1958), Johnny Staccato (1959-1960), The Deputy (1959-1960), 77 Sunset Strip (1960) and Lawman (1960-1962). Sinclair was stabbed to death in his home on Jan. 4, 1970 while protecting his second wife Heather Angel from an intruder. Lightly creased. Random ink stains. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
