Robert Benton (1932-2025) is an American film director and writer, winner of three Oscars
for his films Kramer vs. Kramer (Best Director, Best Writing) and Places in the Heart
(Best Writing). He's also known for his biography on Paul Newman, Nobody's Fool (1994)
and for writing the screenplay for Superman (1978). Originally from Waxahachie, Texas,
Benton got into major motion pictures in the late 1960's when he wrote the screenplay for
Bonnie and Clyde (1967). Throughout his career he's written, directed and produced over 25
films, including The Late Show (1977), The Human Stain (2003) and The Ice Harvest (2005).
He's won over 30 awards for his works, including the 2003 Chicago International Film
Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award. Staple holes at top left corner. Slightly creased and
