Photograph signed: “Best Wishes/ Bob O'Brien”, in blue ink, b/w, 3½x5½. Robert “Bob” Allen O'Brien (b. 1949) was a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He played in college for three different schools: Fresno City College, Texas A&M University, as well as the University of Arizona. He was drafted a total of 4 different times; the first was by the Detroit Tigers in 1968. Then, the San Diego Padres tried to pick him up in the 1968 June draft. Finally, he was drafted twice in 1969 by the Dodgers, once in January and once in June, and he committed to play with the California club. In the 1971 season, he pitched in 14 games for LA, making four starts and recording one shutout. He was traded to the Orioles on December 2, 1971, but never saw any major league playing time with the organization. O'Brien played in the minors for a few more years until his retirement in 1974. After retiring from baseball, he became a math teacher. Pen note “O'Brien” on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
