document authorizing the correctness of public records in black ink
Manuscript document signed: "Robert Christie" in faded black
ink. 1 page, 7x6¼, affixed to white piece of cardstock. Red wax seal affixed in
bottom margin. January 17, 1957. Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. In
part: "By the Honourable Robert Christie Lord Provost of the City of
Glasgow. These doe Certify that the Extract of the bills and protest continued
on this and the proceeding page Is Duly recorded in the book of the Commissions
of Glasgow...". Robert Christie, after serving for many years in less
important municipal offices in Glasgow, Scotland, was elected the city's Lord
Provost on October 5, 1756; a position he held until October 3, 1758. The
Lord Provost served as the chairman of the Glasgow City Council, as well as the
figurehead of the entire city. Toned. Worn and slightly soiled. Edges frayed.
Stains and ink spots throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
