Photograph inscribed and signed: "Sincere best/wishes to
George/Robert Paige". B/w, 7½x9½. Robert Paige (1911-1987), a West Point
graduate, appeared in 65 films. He could sing as well as act, becoming the only
actor to perform a duet with Deanna Durbin (in Can't Help Singing, 1944).
After a film debut in 1934, he played mostly secondary roles until moving to
Universal Pictures in 1941 and promoted to stardom in comedies
(Hellzapoppin') and musicals). As host of TV's Colgate Comedy Hour
in 1955, he won an Emmy. In the 1960s, Paige was a Los Angeles newscaster and
ABC correspondent. He moved into public relations in the 1970s. Corners lightly
creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
