under several layers of latex and collodion, actor Robert Englund (b.
1949) was first cast as malevolent, mass-murdering wraith Freddy Krueger
in A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984. The actor, who became an
instant star, appeared in several sequels: A Nightmare on Elm Street
Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985), A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream
Warriors (1987), A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
(1988), A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child (1989), Freddy's
Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991), New Nightmare (1994) and Freddy
vs. Jason (2003). He also hosted a TV show, Freddy's
Nightmares (1988-1990), as the character and voiced Freddy in two
animated series, The Simpsons (1998) and Robot Chicken (2005).
Although Freddy's only redeeming quality was his morbid sense of humor, Englund
inspired a new line of Halloween gear, including "Freddy" masks and plastic
claws. Fine condition.
