Robert F. Furchgott (born in 1916) of the SUNY Health Center, Brooklyn was
co-recipient with Louis Ignarro and Ferid Murad of the Nobel Prize in
Medicine in 1998 for "discoveries concerning nitric oxide as a signaling
molecule in the cardiovascular system." Nitric oxide, they discovered, tells
blood vessels to relax and widen, an effect which can help control blood
pressure and combat male impotence. Fine condition.
