Autograph Letter signed: "Bob" as U.S. Senator, 1p, 6x8. Washington, D.C., c. 1965-1968. On United States Senate letterhead to Larry. In full: "Thanks very much for your note - You were very thoughtful to take the time to write. Everything seems to be going along well - I hope Ethel & I shall have a chance to see you sometime this spring. Best." Robert F. Kennedy was his brother President John F. Kennedy's Attorney General from 1961-1963 and stayed on in President Johnson's Cabinet until 1964. RFK served as U.S. Senator from New York from January 3, 1965 until his death from an assassin's bullet on June 6, 1968. Kennedy, a candidate for the 1968 Democratic presidential nomination, had just declared victory in the California primary when he was shot at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Robert Kennedy and Ethel Skakel were married in 1950. Their 11th child, a daughter named Rory, was born on December 11, 1968, six months after her father was killed. Paper clip impression and staple holes at upper blank margin, which is lightly soiled. Light pencil erasures at upper right corner. Overall, fine condition.
