ROBERT F. KENNEDY. Photograph inscribed and signed: "For George Sanders/With Best Wishes/Robert Kennedy" as JFK's Attorney General. B/w, 9½x7½. On cardboard. Depicted during an interview with radio talk show host George Sanders. Robert Francis "Bobby" Kennedy (1925-1968), the younger brother of John F. Kennedy, made a name for himself as Chief Counsel of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Improper Activities in Labor or Management Field (1957-1960), investigating such labor leaders as Jimmy Hoffa. He left the office to successfully manage his brother John's successful presidential campaign in 1960. Named as his brother's Attorney General in 1961, Robert worked closely with JFK on such critical issues as the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Civil Rights movement. After JFK's assassination, he served as President Lyndon B. Johnson's Attorney General from 1963-1964. Elected as a U.S. Senator from New York in 1964, "Bobby" served from 1965 until he was assassinated in Los Angeles in June 1968, just moments after declaring victory in the California presidential primary. Ink slightly smudged. Lightly rippled. Diagonal surface scratch at upper background, minor surface scratch on Kennedy's suit. Chipped at lower margin at table. Minor surface striations and stains (not evident head on). Overall, fine condition.
