Autograph letter signed "Bobby" in blue ink. 1 page, 7¼x10½ thin paper. Chicago, Illinois, Feb. 23, 1964. In full: "Dear Ones Both We loved your note after the Poulenc concert. Ruthie has written me in a state of absolute euphoria about your 'Recital'. We live for the pleasure of seeing it. The letter about Tax Exempt is excellent. May the contributions pour in!! Arthur sends love as loves my Mother as do I Love ". Lightly toned and creased. Folded once horizontally and twice vertically and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition. Accompanied by: original mailing envelope, addressed to "Messers F. J. Peschka & W. G. Murdock", New York City. Signed "Fizdale" in return address. Lightly toned and creased. Torn open at top edge. Otherwise in fine condition. FRANK PESCHKA and BILL MURDOCK were founders of New York City's Little Players theatre company, as well as longtime correspondents of Fizdale. ROBERT FIZDALE (1920-1995, born in Chicago, Illinois) and ARTHUR GOLD (1917-1990, born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) met while students at Juilliard. The partners helped transform the duo-piano repertory by commissioning and performing many new works. They appeared on a stage and on a number of recordings and were nominated for a 1963 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance. Fizdale and Gold also authored the book, The Divine Sarah (1991), a biography of Sarah Bernhardt, the first international superstar.
