Autograph letter signed "Arthur & Bobby" in blue ink. With blue ink notations in unknown hand. 1 page, 5¾x4 Italian picture postcard with scalloped edges of "Cathedral and Matteo Bonello Street" in Palermo, Italy. Postmarked Palermo, Italy, 1972, with two Italian stamps affixed. Handaddressed to "Messers Peschka & Murdock", New York City. In full: "Dear Ones Both! Thank you for your beautiful letter. Hope all is going well. Out tour is just ended and we're off on a driving trip through Sicily. 'All love' to you both". Postmarked: "Peggy Guggenheim is with us still talking about YOU!!!". Peschka and Murdockare probably FRANK PESCHKA and BILL MURDOCK, founders of New York City's Little Players theatre company. ROBERT FIZDALE (1920-1995, born in Chicago, Illinois) and ARTHUR GOLD (1917-1990, born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) met while students at Juilliard. The partners helped transform the duo-piano repertory by commissioning and performing many new works. They appeared on a stage and on a number of recordings and were nominated for a 1963 Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance. Fizdale and Gold also authored the book, The Divine Sarah (1991), a biography of Sarah Bernhardt, the first international superstar. Lightly toned and creased. Three pinholes in top edge. Lightly stained near top edge. Light paper loss in lower right corner. Light scratches (not visible head-on) and impressions on photo. Otherwise in fine condition.
