Typed document signed: "Bob Goulet", 1 page, 8½x11. No place, 1968 March 13. Headed: "Release Form". In letter form to News Syndicate Co. Inc., New York, New York. Begins: "Gentlemen". In full: "In consideration of the publicity to be given to me and which may arise herefrom, my consent is hereby irrevocably given to you, your assignees and licensees, and to the Chicago Tribune-New York News Syndicate, Inc., and its subscribers and licensees, to use my name, picture or portrait, in publications for editorial or promotional purposes, excluding, however, commercial advertising. Very truly yours". "Robert Goulet" typed at upper left margin. Singer/actor Goulet (1933-2007) made his Broadway debut in 1959 as Lancelot in Camelot. After his hit single What Kind of Fool Am I?, Goulet won a Grammy Award as Best New Artist in 1963. For the rest of that decade, Goulet focused on album recordings. The winner of the 1968 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical (The Happy Time), Goulet was the star of La Cage aux Folles when it won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival. Goulet, who performed for three Presidents and at a command performance for Queen Elizabeth II, also appeared in a number of films, including I'd Rather Be Rich (1964), Atlantic City (1980), Beetlejuice (1988), The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991) and Toy Story 2 (1999, singing voice of Wheezy the Penguin). He also found success in TV adaptations of musicals, including Brigadoon (1966), Carousel (1967) and Kiss Me Kate (1968), and Goulet has also appeared in made-for-TV movies and made guest appearances on TV shows ranging from Toast of the Town (1961) to The Tony Danza Show (2005). He was married to singer/actress Carol Lawrence, the second of his three wives, from 1963 until their divorce in 1981. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
