Hale was a World War I veteran and a Republican. His cousin, Frederick Hale, represented Maine in the U.S. Senate (1917-1941). He was notable for strongly opposing the Barwise Bill, a bill that opposed aid to parochial schools, and was largely supported by the Klu Klux Klan. Fine condition.
