The Australian dancer signs a 3½x2½ card.
Signature: "Robert Helpmann" in black ink, 3½x2½ card. Australian-born dancer, choreographer and actor Sir Robert Murray Helpmann, Jr. (1909-1986) appeared in several feature films, including The Red Shoes (1948), 55 Days at Peking (1963), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) and Second Time Lucky (1984, his last film). He also made a few guest appearances on television from 1953-1985 and co-starred with Katharine Hepburn in Shakespearean plays. Trained in ballet, Helpmann became a director of the Australian Ballet Company and directed Dame Margot Fonteyn's world tour in 1963. (Fonteyn reportedly considered him her favorite dance partner.) He was honored with a CBE in 1964, and as Australia's Man of the Year in 1965. Fine condition
