that he has returned to New York and would like to go over articles he suggested
be put into the Independent
Autograph letter signed: "Robert Herrick", in black ink, 4½x7.
December 12, 1913. New York. In full: "My dear Mrs. Holt: I have
returned to New York + shall be here for the next fortnight. I shall be glad to
talk over with you those articles I suggested for your use in the "Independent".
Faithfully yours". Robert Herrick (1868-1938) was an American
novelist who was a part of the realist movement, writing novels pertaining to
the inequalities and difficulties of Industrialism. A graduate of Harvard,
Herrick wrote several novels in his life, among them The World
Decision, Web of Life, and The Memoirs of an American
Citizen. Many of his novels were written while working as a literature
professor at the University of Chicago. Later in life, Herrick briefly served as
the acting-Governor of the United States Virgin Islands while former Governor
Paul Martin Pearson was involved in a political scandal. Normal mailing fold.
