B/w photo still from Short Cut to Hell of Ivers from the chest up in a coat and with a haunted look on his face, signed "Will Forever remain Grateful" in blue ink
Inscribed photograph signed "For George/Will Forever/Remain Grateful/Sincerely/Bob Ivers". B/w, 7½x9½ overall, 7½x9 image, one surface. ©1957 Paramount Pictures Corporation. Stamped on verso: "ROBERT IVERS as KYLE." Ivers played Kyle, a double-crossed hitman in Short Cut to Hell (1975). This film - a remake of 1942's This Gun for Hire, itself an adaptation of Graham Greene's novel of the same name - is notable for being the only film directed by actor James Cagney. Ivers (1934-2003, born in Seattle, Washington) got his start on stage at the University of Arizona. He had a few uncredited film roles before his first real screen credit as Monk in Jerry Lewis' first solo movie The Delicate Delinquent (1956). Ivers also starred in Short Cut to Hell (1957), the only movie directed by James Cagney; in the better-than-average B-movie I Married a Monster from Outer Space (1958); and in the Elvis Presley vehicle G. I. Blues (1960). In all, Ivers has almost 30 movies and TV shows to his credit, many as a guest star on various TV series. He later worked as a television announcer in Fargo, North Dakota. Lightly creased and bowed. Pen skipped while signing signature. Errors in negative are reproduced in photograph. Light scratches and horizontal striations on image (not visible head-on). Otherwise in fine condition.
