Typed Letter signed: "Bob" as U.S. Senator, 1p, 8x10½. On official Senate letterhead. Washington, D.C., March 29, 1972. To Robert Orth of Sublette, Kansas In full: "In accordance with your request of February 27, I am pleased to forward the personally autographed photograph of President Nixon, which has just been received from the White House [item not included]. Am please we were able to obtain this for you so quickly, and trust you will let me know if we can be of further assistance," Robert Joseph "Bob" Dole (born 1923) was a Republican U.S. Representative from Kansas from 1961-1969 and U.S. Senator from 1969-1996. He was candidate for Vice President in 1976, a Presidential candidate in 1988 and the Republican Presidential nominee in 1996. A decorated veteran of WWII, in 2007, Dole was appointed co-chair of a committee to investigate problems at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His wife, Elizabeth Hanford Dole, was elected U.S. Senator from North Carolina in 2002. Fine condition.
