Typed Letter signed: "Bob Dole" as U.S. Senator, 1p, 8x10½. On personal Senate letterhead. Washington, D.C., 1969 June 16. To Robert Doell, Oradell, New Jersey. In full: "I appreciated receiving your note and am enclosing an autographed card [not included], along with some other information which may be of interest. I do know of the Bob Dole with Hallmark Cards and, in fact, have corresponded with him. Thanks for writing and let me know if I may ever be of assistance. Sincerely yours," Robert Joseph "Bob" Dole (born 1923) was a Republican U.S. Representative from Kansas from 1961-1969 and U.S. Senator from 1969-1996. He was candidate for Vice President in 1976, a Presidential candidate in 1988 and the Republican Presidential nominee in 1996. A decorated veteran of WWII, in 2007, Dole was appointed co-chair of a committee to investigate problems at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His wife, Elizabeth Hanford Dole, was elected U.S. Senator from North Carolina in 2002. Light paperclip rust in upper left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
