Burdette (1844-1914) wrote columns for the Burlington Hawkeye, and later the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, which were reprinted in newspapers across America. His humor extended to poems ("My First Cigar"), and his popular lectures included the topic "The Rise and Fall of the Mustache." In the 1890s, he became a Baptist minister. Toned.
