1935) is an American poet closely associated with the deep image poetry
scene. He has published more than 50 titles of poetry, including Kill The
Messenger Who Brings Bad News (1980), Lapis (2005), and May
Day (2007). He currently serves as Professor of Literature and
Co-Director of the Program in Written Arts at Bard College, where he has taught
