A talented stage and film actor, Robert Klein (b. 1942) is perhaps best known as a stand-up comic. After debuting on The Ed Sullivan Show, Klein appeared in numerous Broadway shows, including They're Playing Our Song, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor, films and cable TV specials. In addition to hosting Comedy Tonight (1970), which first brought him national attention, and later Dead Comics Society and Stand Up Stand Up for the Comedy Central cable service, Klein has recorded three comedy albums, Child of the 50s (1973), Mind Over Matter (1974) and New Tooth (1992). He has also appeared on a number of television variety shows, series (including Sisters and Bob Patterson) and made-for-television movies, as well as in feature films including The Owl and the Pussycat (1970), Hooper (1978), One Fine Day (1996), Primary Colors (1998), Two Weeks Notice (2002) and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003).
