ROBERT LIVINGSTON
Color photo of a lobby card for The Kansas Terrors, one of the
Three Mesquiteers films
Photograph signed: "Bob Livingston". Color, 10x8. Photo of a
lobby card for The Kansas Terrors (1939), a Three Mesquiteers film
starring Livingston, Duncan Renaldo and Raymond Hatton (also shown). Robert
Livingston (1906-1988, born Robert E. Randall in Quincy, Illinois) began a
career as a journalist before turning to acting, appearing in stage productions
and film shorts from the late 1920s. After making his feature film debut in
1931's Dance Fools Dance, Livingston appeared in a long list of feature
films, including starring as Stoney Brooke in 29 of the popular "Three
Mesquiteers" films. In 1939, he became the screen's second "Lone
Ranger" in the Republic serial, The Lone Ranger Rides Again. In the
early 1940s, Livingston starred in Republic's "Lone Rider" series (1941-1943)
with sidekick Al "Fuzzy" St. John as well as in several non-Westerns. His
credits include such films as Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), Hit the
Saddle (1937) and Riders in the Sky (1949). The actor/singing cowboy
also appeared on several TV series, including The Gene Autry Show
(1950), The Cisco Kid (1950, 1953) and The Lone Ranger (1952,
1954). Married briefly to Margaret Roach, the starlet daughter of producer
Hal Roach, Livingston was the brother of actor Addison "Jack" Randall
(1907-1945). Corners lightly creased. Edges lightly toned. Otherwise, fine
condition.
