Autograph Note signed: "Robert Loggia" in black ink, 6½x4. Los Angeles, California, 1981
February 26 (from postmark on verso). To the employment office at Twentieth-Century
Fox, Los Angeles. In full: "Please correct address for W-2 forms, etc. for Robert Loggia
(129-20-6989). New Add: 2175 Ridge Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90049. Thank you". Robert
Loggia (1930-2015) was originally cast as a leading man. However, over time it became clear
that he was better suited to play character roles. Loggia put forth a memorable performance as
Richard Gere's domineering father in the opening scenes of An Officer and a Gentleman
(1981). He then went on to play villainous roles in Curse of the Pink Panther (1982), Scarface
(1983), and Prizzi's Honor (1985). He was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of a
private detective in Jagged Edge (1985). One of the more amicable characters Loggia has
played was the toy manufacturer in Big (1988). In fact, he was Tom Hanks's dancing
partner in the scene that had them stomp out "Heart and Soul" on the massive keyboard
at FAO Schwarz. Another sympathetic role he played was that of the president's loyal and
steady military advisor in Independence Day (1996). Fold crease through signature. Otherwise,
fine condition.
