Philatelic Envelope signed: "Robert/Mitchum", 6½x3½. First Day Cover honoring the Conestoga Wagon, block of eight, 3-cent Conestoga Wagon 1800s stamps affixed, postmarked Conestoga, Pennsylvania, February 20, 1988, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Mitchum (1917-1997) played mostly villains early in his film career, including Out of the Past (1947) and Cape Fear (1962). In 1945, he starred in The Story of G.I. Joe and earned his first and only Oscar nomination. He also portrayed detective Phillip Marlowe in Farewell My Lovely (1975) and The Big Sleep (1978), and starred in the TV miniseries The Winds of War (1983) and its sequel, War and Remembrance (1989). Fine condition.
