ROBERT MONTGOMERY and BERT WHEELER
Montgomery and Wheeler both sign on a 6x4½ album leaf for a fan named "Jerry"
Autograph note signed: "To Jerry -/With all good wishes,/Robert Montgomery" and on verso in pencil "To Jerry/A coming young/Star Sez/Bert Wheeler" , 6x4¼ album leaf. MONTGOMERY (1904-1981) received Oscar nominations as Best Actor for Night Must Fall (1937) and Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941). He began directing, first as an assistant to John Ford on They Were Expendable (1945). He had great success as a TV director in the 1950s, especially his Emmy-winning Robert Montgomery Presents (1950-1957). His daughter was actress Elizabeth Montgomery of Bewitched fame, who made her TV debut on her father's show. WHEELER (1889-1968), a vaudevillian who starred on Broadway in the Ziegfield Follies of the 1920s, made many films in the 1930s as part of a comedy team with Robert Woolsey. He was a regular in the TV series Brave Eagle (1955-56), a show which has found a new audience through video releases. Ink notes (unknown hand) at lower edge on each side. Lightly soiled. File holes on left edge. Stray ink marks near Wheeler signature.
