Robert Schmorr was a tenor who performed an impressive number of operatic roles on many important stages. Schmorr made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera House on October 13, 1965 as Goro in a performance of Madame Butterfly, composed by Giacomo Puccini. Schmorr was admired for the authenticity he brought to his performances, making whatever part he played come to life. He played the role of Isèpo in the 1966 run of La Gioconda at the Metropolitan Opera House and the 1967 performances at the War Memorial Auditorium in Boston, Massachusetts and the Philadelphia Civic Center. He was also seen in various settings in the role of Rev. Horace Adams in Peter Grimes. Schomoor played the role of Benvolio in the Metropolitan Opera House's 1967 performances of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, as well as the role of the Spoletta in Puccini's Tosca, also at the Met, amongst other locales.
