executive of Ford Motor Company who became its President one day after JFK was
elected President, Robert S. McNamara (1916-2009) served as Secretary of
Defense under Presidents Kennedy and Johnson (1961-1968). A strong though
controversial executive, McNamara was a key decision maker during the Cuban
missile crisis and the Vietnam War and on nuclear weapons policy. He went on
to head the World Bank for thirteen years (1968-1981). McNamara, who is the
author of several books, was interviewed for the 2003 documentary, The Fog of
War. Fine condition.
