ROBERT TAYLOR and JOAN CAULFIELDBoth pen their signatures on this album leaf in ink, dated in 1948 Signatures: "Robert Taylor" and, on verso, "To Peter/Best wishes/Joan Caulfield", 5x3½ album leaf. Taylor's side is dated (unknown hand): "20.12.48."; Caulfield's side is dated: "2.12.48." and her name is written (unknown hand) at lower right margin. In the year these autographs were signed, Taylor did not appear in any feature films; Caulfield was seen in two films, Larceny and The Sainted Sisters. The good looks of ROBERT TAYLOR (1911-1969) sometimes caused critics to overlook his acting talents, which he displayed in such films as Camille (1936), Waterloo Bridge (1940), Bataan (1943), Quo Vadis (1951) and The Last Hunt (1956). He starred on TV in Robert Taylor's Detectives (1959-1962) and succeeded friend Ronald Reagan as host of Death Valley Days (1966-1968). He was married to two actresses: Barbara Stanwyck and Ursula Theiss. JOAN CAULFIELD (1922-1991) was a popular starlet who played featured roles in films from Miss Susie Slagle's (1945) to Buckskin (1968) and in mature supporting roles thereafter. She had debuted to good reviews on Broadway in Kiss and Tell (1943). Joan appeared in several musicals, including Blue Skies (1946), and had her own TV sitcom, Sally, for one season (1957-1958). Slightly creased. Stray ink smudges on Caulfield's side, which has paper remnant at blank right edge from removal from bound book. Otherwise, fine condition.
