Autograph Note signed: "For Mrs. Ellis D. Robb/Robert W. Chambers/Feb. 4th1933", 4x6 card, Magazine photo affixed at left edge. Robert W. Chambers (1865-1933) was a Paris-trained artist and illustrator whose work appeared in many American magazines, including Life and Vogue. In the mid-1890s, he switched embarked on an even more successful career as a fiction writer, beginning with Gothic tales, and then moving on to romantic and historical novels. His most influential work was The King in Yellow (1895), a collection of short stories about a play of that name which drives its readers insane. Many writers, including H. P. Lovecraft, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Robert Heinlein and Stephen King, reference The King in Yellow in their own stories. Chambers died December 16, 1933. Corners lightly worn. Fine condition.
