ROBERT YOUNG
His signed, handwritten letter offering thanks for the clipping and letter.
Autograph Letter signed: "Robert Young", 1p, 5½x3½. Beverly Hills, California, 18 March. On personal postcard to "My dear Sir-" In full: "Many thanks for your gracious letter and clipping. You were most flattering but it was pleasant to read none the less. There will be a photo forwarded shortly. My very best to your parents and again thank you. Sincerely" Addressed on front in his own hand: "Geo. R. Sauder Jr./931 S. W. King Ave/Portland/Oregon 97205" In 1932, Young appeared in five feature films, The Wet Parade, New Morals for Old, Unashamed, The Kid from Spain and Strange Interlude. Perhaps best known as Jim Anderson on Father Knows Best (radio 1949-1954; television, 1954-1960) and the title practitioner on television's Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969-1976), Robert Young (1907-1998) also appeared in over 100 films. In some screen roles, such as the cold-blooded spy in Hitchcock's Secret Agent (1936) and the no-good philanderer in They Won't Believe Me (1947), Young showed an acting range far broader than his likeable and wholesome TV characters. Cancellation stamp through first two lines. Lightly worn at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
