ROBERTO ALOMAR
Signed cover commemorating Game Two of the 1992 World Series
Commemorative Cover signed: "Roberto Alomar/12", 6½x3½. Special cover marking Game 2
of the 1992 World Series, postmarked Atlanta, Georgia, October 18, 1992 (the place and
date of the game), 29-cent US Olympic baseball stamp affixed. (The Toronto Blue Jays
became the first Canadian team to win a World Series by defeating the Atlanta Braves that
year.) A 10-time Gold Glove second baseman and 12-time All-Star (1990-2001), Roberto
Alomar was MVP of the 1998 All-Star Game. After 17 seasons, he retired with a .300
lifetime batting average in March 2005 during spring training with the Tampa Bay Devil
Rays, finishing just 276 hits shy of 3,000. He had led the Toronto Blue Jays to consecutive
World Series titles in 1992 and 1993. Alomar wore #12 with the Blue Jays. Though not
stars of Roberto's caliber, his father and brother (Sandy Alomar Sr. and Jr.) were talented
major leaguers. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
