Photograph signed: "Roberto Benzi". B/w, 3¾x5½. Roberto Benzi, born in Marseilles in 1937 to Italian parents, made his conducting debut at age 11. The following year, he was the subject of a Cannes award-winning film, Prelude to Glory. Besides conducting the French National Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France, he has conducted major symphony orchestras throughout the world. He conducted his first opera (The Barber of Seville) in 1960, and has been the featured conductor at many music festivals. He has released many classical recordings on the Philips label, and conducts master classes in conducting. Corners lightly worn. Lightly soiled. Toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
