VINNY PAZIENZA and ROBERTO DURAN
A 20x16 action shot of the boxers, with Paz landing a shot on Duran
Photograph signed: "The/Pazmanian/Devil/V*____ Paz/5x World Champ/50 wins" and "Roberto/Duran". Color, 20x16. Accompanied by two photos (color, 6x4), one of each boxer signing. PAZIENZA, who bears the nickname of "Pazmanian Devil", changed his last name to Paz in the 1990s. He won the IBF's lightweight championship in 1987, and then began a series of challenges in heavier weight categories. He made the largest leap ever in championship weights (24 pounds) when he gained the WBA's junior middleweight title in 1991, regaining his title fighting in a neck brace against doctors' advice! He waged tough fights against top contenders in the super middleweight class in the 1990s. One of only four boxers to hold four different world titles (lightweight, 1972-1979; welterweight, 1980; junior middleweight, 1983; middleweight, 1989-1990), DURAN, who began his career in 1967, is especially remembered for quitting in the eighth round of his November 25, 1980 rematch with Sugar Ray Leonard, saying "no mas" ("no more"). He had won a 15-round decision over Leonard on June 20, 1980. Duran finally retired in 2002, at age 50, with a 104-16 record and 69 KOs. Although Paz won both his fights against Duran, 12-round decisions in Las Vegas and Atlantic City (1994-1995), Duran was one of the few fighters to knock Vinny down. Duran was in the front row at Foxwoods Resort in 2003, cheering Paz on to his 50th victory. The popular rapper Vinnie Paz, took that name in honor of his boxing hero. Fine condition.
