ROBIN WILLIAMS
Black and white publicity photograph of the Oscar winning actor, shown as Leslie Zevo from the film Toys
Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: "Robin Williams". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7x8¾ (one surface). Publicity photograph by Arthur Grace for the 1992 film, Toys, which starred Williams as Leslie Zevo, the eccentric inventor son of a toymaker. ©1992, Twentieth Century Fox. Captioned at lower margin: "ROBIN WILLIAMS stars in Barry Levinson's 'TOYS,' a comedy about a whimsical toymaker who must save his father's factory from the clutches of his demented uncle." Toys, which was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design, also starred Michael Gambon, Joan Cusack, Robin Wright Penn, LL Cool J and Donald O'Connor. In the year this film was released, Williams appeared in one feature film, Shakes the Clown, and lent his vocal talents to three animated films: Aladdin (in which, as the voice of the Genie, he sang "Friend Like Me" and "Prince Ali"), From Time to Time (as the Timekeeper) and Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest (as Bally Koda). He also appeared on television in two special benefits - for Amnesty International and as a performer in a Comedy Relief special. Robin Williams (1951-2014), a brilliant improvisational comedian with almost no acting experience, played a space alien, Mork from Ork, on the TV sitcom, Mork and Mindy (1978-1982). The show established him as one of America's most popular comedians, one who would soon prove he could handle serious dramatic roles as well. Williams received Best Actor Academy Award nominations for Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989) and The Fisher King (1991). He won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Good Will Hunting (1997). Slightly creased at blank margins. Light black mark at lower right margin. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Fine condition.
