Rod Carew signs a contract with R. G. Hennkens, Marketing
Communications to use his name, likeness, and endorsement for 1½ years for 5% of
the sale price of each product sold plus up to 100 endorsed products for Carew's
personal use.

Louis, Montana, 1978 January 1. "Licensing Agreement" between R.G. Hennkens,
Marketing Communications, and Rod Carew who grants them license to use his
"name, likeness and/or endorsement" for 1½ years (or 2½ years if extended
by Carew) for 5% of the sale price for each product sold plus up to 100 endorsed
products for Carew's personal use. Rod Carew had just been selected
1977 American League MVP batting .388. Rod Carew (born in 1945) starred with
the Minnesota Twins (1967-1978) and California Angels (1979-1985), a second
baseman who moved to first base late in his career. Rookie of the Year in
1967, Carew led the league in hitting seven times (1969, 1972-1975, 1977-1978),
was elected to the All-Star team in 17 of his 19 years, and hit over .300 for
fifteen consecutive seasons. In 1977, his league-leading .388 batting
average was the best in the major leagues by 50 points! He was also a fine base
runner and base stealer. In 1985, he became only the sixteenth major leaguer to
reach 3,000 hits. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991.
