a blues harmonica player and vocalist, headed two other blues-oriented jazz
bands before forming Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers in 1980. The Mighty Flyers
have released 18 albums through 2013, to go with Piazza's 6 previous issues with
the Dirty Blues Band and Bacon Fat. He is also in demand as a session musician.
HONEY PIAZZA (b. 1951) was already an accomplished blues pianist when she
became a founding member of the Mighty Flyers. She married Rod several years
later. Drummer JIMI BOTT, bassist BILL STUVE and guitarist ALEX
SCHULTZ have recently left the group to pursue separate interests. Bott, who
now plays with the Mannish Boys, released his first solo album, Cheap
Thrills, in 2005. Stuve's most recent album is the swinging Flyin'
Right. Schultz's first solo CD, Think About It, came out in 2004.
